Clean them as good as you can getting in all the nooks and crannies. Take off all hardware then tape around any areas where you don t want paint to inadvertently land. Make sure you clean both sides of the doors and drawers and all the nooks and crannies of the frames. No matter the painting occasion this is what i do at the purple painted lady.

To make it a bit easier we use brushes that you can attach to a drill or impact driver. Leave the abrasive cleaners and scrub brushes to your sink. It still attacks the grease and that is what you want to get rid of and isn t as stinky as the denatured alcohol. I prefer to use dawn dish soap.

To clean grease off kitchen cabinets before you paint them we like to spray down all surfaces with krud kutter then scrub them really well. Wipe down the cabinets with a rag dipped in a mix of straight vinegar or a 1 1 mix of vinegar and warm water with a few drops of liquid dish soap. Harsh scrubbing can damage kitchen cabinets finish or paint. And after you re done drink a nice glass of wine to celebrate your superhuman cleaning skills.

Rinse thoroughly and allow the cabinets to dry before painting. It is recommended that you thoroughly clean your cabinets before painting with a sponge and denatured alcohol.
